It has been said in many instances that real estate is all about the basics, process and consistency and I definitely agree. In addition to this, in my time since I have joined the industry; I have also come to realise that we must add opportunity to the already mentioned words.

In real estate, whether you are buying property; selling property or are an agent in the transaction, I believe that one must be alert enough to realise when an opportunity arises and seize it. This of course means that one must always stay prepared. To be prepared as a buyer, you must know how much you want to pay for the property and have a guideline of whether you qualify for the amount or not by means of a pre-qualification with a bond originator. To be prepared as a seller, you must know how your property practitioner got to your price, you must know the market that you are selling in, you must know that from the purchase price offered to you; there will be costs to be deducted. Whatever you need to know, your property practitioner must inform you about.

As a property practitioner you must be knowledgeable of the market that you are servicing, you must do the training services offered, you must equip yourself by being qualified as this will assist you in confidence, in providing a cut above the rest service relative to other practitioners and in being ready for when that opportunity arises.

The saying goes like this ‘Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity’, in property this saying means that in order for you to make the right decision whether you are buying or selling a property is determined by what opportunities you are presented with and have seized. In property this saying for a property practitioner means that you are attentive enough to know your buyer’s requirements and needs and that you understand what your seller requires of you so that you can achieve what our Century 21 University calls MATCHING thus providing a service that ultimately generates referrals for you!
