Reflecting on 15 Years as an Administrator within the Century 21 South Africa Group - Century 21 University Sa - Willemien Miller

Fifteen years is a significant milestone in any career, and my journey as an administrator within the Century 21 South Africa Group has been nothing short of remarkable. Throughout these years, I have seen many changes in the real estate industry and experienced a lot of personal growth, most of all having the privilege of being part of an awesome Brand. I would like to share some of my views as a well as lessons I have learned during my journey as an administrator with Century 21 South Africa.

  1. Embracing Change and Adaptability: One of the key factors that has contributed to my success, in my view as an administrator, is the ability to embrace and adapt to changes in the ever-changing real estate industry. With the significant changes experienced during the years in Real Estate and also the system changes in our Century21 Group, as an administrator, it has been important to stay abreast of these changes and to proactively adjust my skills and office procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in my role. And by embracing this change has not only enhanced my professional development but has also, I believe, made me an asset within the organization.
  2. Supporting a Dynamic Team: As an administrator, I have had the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team of real estate professionals. I have seen many agents come and go and learned to adapt to these changes. From agents and brokers to many other important role players, my role involved providing essential support and maintaining a smooth flow within our 4 offices. Effective communication, organisational skills, and multitasking have been some of  the  important tools to manage the diverse needs and demands of this team as well as building strong relationships and trust.
  3. Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Real estate transactions involve numerous documents, contracts, and legalities. As an administrator, attention to detail and accuracy are of utmost importance. Over the years, I have learned to develop a meticulous eye for detail, ensuring that every document is accurate, complete, and compliant with legal requirements. This has ensured the smooth running between the 4 offices as well as developing trust among agents and key role players. Being thorough and diligent in my work has been a defining factor in maintaining the high standards of the Century 21 brand.
  4. Navigating Challenges: No career is without its challenges, and as an administrator, I have faced my fair share. From managing tight deadlines and high-pressure situations to resolving conflicts and handling unexpected issues, the ability to remain calm and focused has been important. Over the years, I have learned to deal with these challenges effectively and this played a role in my personal and professional growth, and I am grateful for the lessons I have learned along the way.

In conclusion, being an administrator overseeing the administration of 4 real estate offices is a demanding but rewarding role.

Reflecting on my 15-year journey as an administrator within the Century 21 South Africa Group, I have had the honour of being National Administrator of the Year 2019, 2nd runner up for the past 2 years and being nominated over the years, and that certainly fills me with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Being part of a worldwide brand, embracing change, supporting a dynamic team, and maintaining attention to detail has been key factors to my success. As the real estate industry continues to adapt to changes, I look forward to continuing my journey, using my experience, and hopefully being able to positively contribute to the growth of Century 21 South Africa, in particular our 4 offices – Alberton, Glenvista, Meyerton and Vanderbijlpark.
